Baywinde Senior Living Community in Rochester, New York, and its wellness partner and neighbor, the Bay View Family YMCA, were among the three finalists for the Rochester Business Journal's Corporate Achievement in Health Care Award. Baywinde and the YMCA were honored for their collaboration to promote wellness on the new senior campus. "The Rochester Business Journal Health Care Achievement Awards finalists represent the best that Rochester has to offer," noted Susan R. Holliday, President & Publisher of the RBJ. The awards "recognize excellence, promote innovation and honor the efforts of individuals and organizations who are making a significant impact on the quality of health care in Rochester." The nomination was selected from among a large number of entries. Baywinde was the only senior living community among the finalists. Baywinde is a new senior living campus that includes 14 patio homes, 120 apartment homes with supportive services, 84 assisted living apartments and a special neighborhood for those coping with early to mid-stage Alzheimer's disease and related memory loss (the final campus phase opened in March 2002). Walden Place Assisted Living Community in Cortland, New York received the Cortland County Chamber of Commerce 2002 Small Business of the Year Award recently. Walden Place was recognized not only for its commitment to its residents, but also to the Cortland Community, according to the Chamber. Walden Place has been involved with a significant number of community events and sponsorships, although it has only been open a year. Walden Place offers 80 enriched housing apartments and a secure neighborhood for those with Alzheimer's and related memory loss. Both communities are managed by Sage Group, LLC of New York, a senior living consulting and management firm based in Rochester, New York. |
